Lavender

The Lavender species used for incense in the Temple is called Shibbolet Nerd in Hebrew, the Hebrew word for a grin of wheat, because of its resemblance to wheat.

There are many species of Lavender and the most common are the English, French and Bulgarian species.

Lavender has incredible soothing properties. It is considered the magic ingredient and has a wide range of potential uses. The Lavender plant is popular and grows in many eco-systems and gardens all over the world.

Lavender is well known for its properties and is widely used in cosmetics and in skin treatments.

Medicinal properties:

  • Efficient in situations with pressure and recurring thoughts. Relieves tension headaches and headaches from other sources.
  • Recommended for sleeplessness.
  • Can relieve insect bites, itches and first-degree burns- by applying directly on the skin. Lavender essential oil is considered very efficient in regenerating damaged skin and erasing scars. It is recommended to calm children and enable them to have a peaceful sleep, to drip a few drops of oil on their pillowcase just before bedtime.
  • Can also help Psoriasis flare-ups from emotional causes.

Rose

The Damascus rose is the species attributed to the biblical incense.

Its aroma is the most intense of all species of Rose known to the modern world. It is not surprising that it has been associated with femininity in ancient cultures and given the nickname of the “King of Cosmetics” due to its skin repairing properties, and its ability to adapt to either dry or normal skin.

Rose water or rose oil is distilled from the rose petals during a two-week flowering period. Many flowering bushes are needed to produce a minute amount of oil.

The Rose oil, also known as “Rose Absolute”, is used in tiny amounts, as to distill one liter of oil takes 60,000 Rose petals.

Rose oil has been used through history to sooth troubled souls. It forges a connection to subtle yet powerful energy.
