Galbanum

חלבנה

Galbanum (Chelbena in Hebrew)is a unique ingredient manufactured from the sap of the Ferula galbaniflua tree.
The tree, which is originally from Persia and Afghanistan, also grows in Turkey.
Because the sap is white before it hardens, some say that the Hebrew name Chelbena (close to milk) describes its source.
Gallbanum has a sharp smell, reminiscent of black pepper and angelica root.
